Duisburg as a commercial center at the Lower Rhine is an important industrial site and the third largest city of the Ruhr area. Worldwide important port of Duisburg is the largest European inland port. Its logport is a logistic centre excellently networked to perfectly handle goods from all over the world.

Beside of the economic centre Duisburg is also of renowned for education. Its university (Universität Duisburg-Essen) is among the youngest universities in North Rhine Westphalia while being one of the largest ones in Germany. 

The change in the Ruhr area is best represented by the highlight of industrial history, the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, where our evening event took place in 2010. It is a former mine ground where today sports, artistic and cultural events are performed. 
  
Despite the industrial change Duisburg is the largest steel producing city in Europe. An ideal site for the SLV Duisburg that offers all engineering services and in particular further education in welding technology for engineers.
